Returning slip renters are billed near the end of the calendar year with a due date in
mid-January. This timetable allows sufficient preparation time for people to move up
from the Dock Waiting List to fill any vacancies. As a member in good standing on the
Dock Waiting List, if you are offered a slip before the season starts (May 1st), you can
defer renting for one year only. If you decline a subsequent offer, your name will be
removed from the waiting list. If you are offered a slip once the season starts (~May
1st) and decline, there is no change to your position on the list, and others who are
ranked lower on the DWL will be given the chance to rent a slip. Once you begin
renting a slip, you are automatically eligible to return in subsequent years, subject to the
usual conditions.
One of the requirements under the slip rental agreement is to have your boat in your slip
by July 4th. From time to time, issues arise that prevent a returning slip renter from
doing so by 7/4, and the slip renter asks for a year off (subject to the refund rules).
When this occurs, the #1 person on the Dock Waiting List is offered the opportunity to
rent a slip that year and in subsequent years. The person who yielded their slip will
assume the number 1* position on the list and will await a vacancy to occur in the
future. When another vacancy occurs, that “Hiatus”person is offered a slip, and refusal
to accept and pay for that slip means their name is removed from the list.
These are the refund percentages that were established in 2019 by the GHRA BoD.
By March 1st = 75% Refund
March 2nd to May 15th = 50% Refund
After May 16th = No Refund
Email to dockmasters (timestamp) or postmark determines date. Exceptions will apply
for death or serious disability –medical disability will require physician documentation.
The GHRA docks include four (4) size-limited slips closest to the dock gates. These are
rented at a discount because of limited water depth and difficulty departing and
returning under certain conditions. When one of these slips becomes available, and
none of the other current slip renters is interested in renting that space instead, it is
often necessary to go down the list to find someone with a suitable boat willing to accept
the slip rental offer. This person will not be eligible to shift to a full-size, full-price slip
until their name would have come to the top of the DWL normally.
